Ingredient Spotlight: Arnica

I want to share with you one of the ingredients that I chose to include in my Pain Salve because of its strong medicinal qualities- Arnica Montana.

Arnica flowers have been used for centuries because they are known to support circulation, thus allowing oxygen to reach injured cells faster. In terms of bruises, sprains, and other injuries, this means that healing time is decreased, and recovery comes faster.

Muscle stiffness is also a common reason why people reach for Arnica for internal or topical use. In this study published by National Library of Medicine, 26 men and 53 women with mild to moderate osteoarthritis (OA) of the knee were treated with Arnica Gel twice daily. After 3 and 6 weeks, the results show “Significant decreases in median total scores on the Western Ontario and McMaster Universities Osteoarthritis Index (WOMAC)”. Additionally, scores on the “pain, stiffness, and function subscales also showed significant reductions at these timepoints”.

In fact, one reviewer of my product claims, “I live with pain from OsteoArthritis every day. This product has helped the joints in my hands find sustained relief for the first time in 2 years….it really works”. (Thank you Susan!)

I have asked my homeopath, friend, and long-time customer, Urvi Radia, to give me her opinion on Arnica. To give a brief background introduction, Urvi was a doctor in India, but moved to the United States to pursue more opportunities and her dream of opening a restaurant. She became recertified here in the US as a homeopath & opened the MOST delicious fast-casual Indian Restaurant in Redondo Beach called Bollywood Zaika. Her quote is this:

Arnica is the most versatile first aid remedy that is a must have for every medicine cabinet. Best used for bruises, concussions, muscular soreness, injuries – where skin is intact.

– Urvi

Applying topical arnica, in addition to the anti-inflammatory properties of CBD+, means muscles stiffness is soothed, pain is addressed, and injuries are given the support they need to recover.
